About the Artist

1982 , Germany

Marie Jeschke was born in Rostock, Germany, 1982. She currently lives and works in Berlin. The work of Marie Jeschke oscillates between multiple positions, viewpoints and mediums. Different works often permeate through one another, forming a rhizomatic structure that remains de-rooted and ever-expanding. Voyeurism, exhibitionism, identity-formation, the disengagement of youth, and contemporary relics and icons, are continuing themes and questions that she raises through her practice. Previously a performance artist, Jeschke stopped using her body as a material in order to focus instead on the performativity of objects and their inherent potential to be re-formed and re-contextualised in the present moment.
