This unique artwork is realized on digital picture retouched by hand, on the typical artist's feature. Here the artist represents one of the most popular cinema icon: Audry Hepburn. Its belong to the series dedicated to all pop icons. The portrait is taken from the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

The artwork is signed on the bottom and is accopanied with the original authetic document from the official archive and Pinacote of Maria Murgia.

1935 Ossi, Italy

Maria Murgia was born in Ossi, Sardinia in 1935. When she was only a little girl has the opportunity to know Aligi Sassu her mentor, that will encourage her to continue the artistic studies.

During the years Murgia moved in the several cities of Italy, but in the 70' the art becomes central in her life and will devote to plain time to the artistic career.

In 1975 takes place her first personal near "Study 13" of La Spezia. From that moment it will be a growing virtuous collaborations with great institutional events and personal shows that brought up to the foundation of a Pinacoteca of Murgia that collects all the artworks from the first years '70 to today.

The artistic path of this important Italian artist has seen a lot of phases, in the whole common matrix is the female figure, that is investigated according to the most actual canons, often forced to tied up behaviors and roles defined by the social stereotypes. The woman becomes a stately image, flat, firm in her fixity, unable to move, forced from all the cages that have imprisoned her to an imposed role. The female figure is as an island of difficulty landing, distant in one unexplored world.

From the 2000 years the predominant art medium of Maria Murgia is the Fotomosaico, aims as new way to record the world to describe. She uses Pop aesthetics with iconic images, which are linked to the world of fashion and entertainment, in particuar the most famouse dedicated to Audry Hapbourn and Marilyn Monroe.

What emerges is the logical of perception, from an intimate to a more external world.

Pop-Art, which is deliberately inspired in these latest series, is the current that has placed all its attention on the contemporary consumer society. All the expressions of Pop-Art presuppose a double link with the world of consumerism and mass media, creating works of art in series and placing them in a lower position as consumer products in a provocative way.

In reality the content is much deeper, in the choice of images, which sees the prevalence of female subjects: the woman object, her image is commercialized as well as a consumer product, used and emptied of substance. The result is very original, aesthetically relevant and conceptually consistent.

Her portraits are made up of a mosaic in digital images: so many different moments that form a single personality.
