Liu Cheng Hua's work compares the imprint of the issues on the historical and cultural identities with present days. By composing the old photograph of prominent figures and combine with unconventional iconography, he captured the essence of cultural and identity values to evoke the issues that happened now. The combination of the expression of characters with the support of iconic symbols and invite the viewer into various interpretation with the current perspective where the hybrid conventions are questioned, the consensus is challenged, and curiosity is deemed a necessity.Liu's Silent Opera series of prints which has been developed more than a decade, it's as refreshing as the eyes can see until now. Liu combines screenprint and monoprint which mainly influence by pop with the semi-abstract strokes and approaches.
