Elegance in the imperfect and the fleeting is something Lisa Wong strives to represent in her art. Through flight of bird and the sail of fin, this is Lisa's latest series 'Eden', heavily inspired by the splendour of Suzhou's natural landscapes.

Lisa Wong Sook Kuan is a Malaysian artist who developed her practice while attending California College of the Art in San Francisco where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. Lisa has always been drawn to images that champion one’s personal truths and strives to represent elegance, the imperfect and the fleeting in her artworks.

Lisa works are often ornate, surrealistic, and are a depiction of different emotive states inspired by the complexities of human nature. Her work spans from intricate ink pieces to brightly-hued acrylic creations. Each work tells a story of the human condition through a means of anthropomorphism and the natural world. Her artistic inspiration is drawn from the likes of Takato Yamamoto, James Jean, and Chinese traditional painting. Occasionally, she also ventures into classical art, utilizing graphite, oil paint and charcoal.

Lisa has exhibited her work globally in Spain, USA, Hong Kong and Malaysia

, Malaysia

An alumnus of the California College of the Arts with a BFA in Illustration, Lisa’s work has evolved from year to year: beginning her career with a series of intricate ink drawings and shifting to richly-coloured, imagined, interiors. Drawing inspiration from the world around her, Lisa enjoys creating imaginary spaces from mundane, everyday objects. Sometimes borrowed, sometimes owned, the world depicted in each work contain items known to the artist in real life. Whether it be a pet goldfish, a birthday cake or the weeds in her garden, through the canvas they become something more otherworldly beyond their tangible forms. Besides painting, Lisa is an avid cook and baker. She enjoys a good dinner party and a generous glass of wine.
