A silkscreen print by Chinese master Hsiao Chin, one of the greatest exponents of Asian art of the last century.
The work reflects the artistic and spiritual research found in much of Chin's artistic production. Gestures and time become part of the work thanks to the impression left by the brushstrokes of colour that form this composition.
The work is hand-signed at lower right and hand-numbered at lower left in a limited edition of XXV pieces.
1935 , China
Born in Shanghai on 30 January 1935, Chin Hsiao is an important Chinese artist and one of the greatest famous painters in the history of contemporary art.
Growing up in a family particularly predisposed towards the fine arts, as his father, Yu-mei Hsiao, was a musicologist of a certain culture, as well as founder of the Shanghai National Conservatory of Music, Chin Hsiao showed great talent for drawing and painting from an early age, and also showed a strong passion for these disciplines. During his time in Europe, Chin experimented with various forms of abstraction, combining an essentially two-dimensional painting composed of broad backgrounds, which create rhythmic effects that visually evoke long, sinuous waves. The artist arrived in Milan in 1959, then the centre of the artistic avant-garde, where he got to know Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni and others, their innovative ideas, but despite this contact with Western culture, he did not forget Taoist teachings.
Hsiao's entire artistic career was in fact a continuous spiritual quest, starting from his training in Taipei where, thanks to his master, he learnt the importance of the balance between heart, brain, hands and eyes and how to combine colours with each other.
