"Solitudine della gente del circo" is a graphic work by Italian painter and sculptor Giorgio de Chirico, created in 1969.
The work depicts a circus environment. There are some typical circus elements, such as a big top, musical instruments, a horse and a flag. Despite this, the environment appears desolate and bare, and there is no trace of the presence of spectators.
The work is characterised by the use of an unusual spatial perspective, which creates a sense of unreality and mystery. Light is used masterfully to create an evocative and dreamlike atmosphere, and the shadows cast on the ground accentuate the effect of depth and three-dimensionality.
The work is taken from the folder 'Auf der Galerie', published by Gotthard De Beauclair (Frankfurt) and printed by the printer Bulla in Rome.

Giorgio de Chirico was born to Italian parents in Volos, Greece, on July 10, 1888. In his art, he sought to evoke the hidden meanings behind everyday life, and his enigmatic scenes of empty cities, menacing statues, mysterious shadows and strange combinations of everyday objects inspired the artists of the Surrealist movement in the 1910s. His important "metaphysical" works from these years include "The Enigma of an Autumn Afternoon," "The Soothsayer's Recompense" and "The Mystery and Melancholy of a Street." After a long career, de Chirico died in Rome, Italy, on November 19, 1978. Italian artist Giorgio de Chirico is best known for his enigmatic paintings of the 1910s and '20s, and for his influence on the Surrealist movement.
