In the pictorial language of Gaetano Miani, color plays a fundamental role. The subject is constructed through the brush strokes which, in the production of this painter, take on an extraordinary dynamism.

Gaetano Miani (Troina, 1920 - Roma, 2009) was an Italian artist.
His artistic training began in Palermo at the school of Pippo Rizzo and later studied in Milan under the guidance of Aldo Carpi.
His artistic activity began in 1942 and after the Second World War, in 1947, he moved to Brazil where he executed important frescoes in public and private buildings, among which the Basilica of Nossa Senhora do Carmo (Campinas) | (1948-1950).
In 1954 he won the competition for the murals at the Palácio do Café and the panels at the Palácio da Fazenda, in São Paulo from 1957 to 1960.
He dedicated himself to painting and teaching, teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in São Paulo, at the Art Museum and Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation.
In 1972 he exhibited in Rome Palazzo Barberini, Museo di Roma in 1975. He lived in Rome, where he maintained his studio on Via Margutta 98, when he died at the age of 89, victim of a heart attack.
In 1988 the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) exhibited an important retrospective of his works, including the publication of a monograph. The curator was Maurizio Fagiolo Dell'Arco, with Pietro Maria Bardi writing the preface.
