Chiara Rapaccini, aka RAP, born in Florence in 1954, lives in Rome where she holds the chair of Illustration for children at the European Institute of Design. Designer, painter, illustrator, sculptress, she writes and illustrates books for children and adults for the major Italian publishing houses. She is a cartoonist for "L'Espresso", she works online as a blogger and collaborates with Linkiesta as a columnist.

She has made cartoons for RAI and for the cinema (including the opening credits of the film Panni Sporchi by Mario Monicelli and the short A Good World for the film Resistenza Naturale by Jonathan Nossiter).

She has collaborated as illustrator for “Il Corriere della Sera”,“La Repubblica”, “Il Manifesto”,“L'Espresso”,“Liberal” and “L'Unità”.

In 2008 she wrote and made the documentary Vicino al Colosseo c'è Monti with Monicelli and she created the poster, the graphics and the book Le mosche del deserto (Maschietto editore) for his film Le Rose del deserto.

Her personal exhibitions have been set up in Rome, Milan, Naples, Genoa, Venice, Turin, Osaka, Paris, New York, Brussels, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Porto, Havana. Her works are in the permanent collections of the GAM in Genoa and at the Azumino Museum in Japan.

Chiara Rapaccini is the author of a satirical page, Amori Sfigati, which is very successful in Italy and abroad, and from which her book Amori Sfigati (Franco Cosimo Panini publisher) was taken.

The first exhibition at Il Vicolo gallery, Merendine, was in 1997, which was followed by Moods in 2006, Lovstori in 2010 and Amori Sfigati in 2015, both in the Genoa gallery and in the Milan gallery.

In 2006 she created the strenna calendar for Il Vicolo entitled Moods.
