Drawings & Works on Paper

2020 circa.

Indian ink and acrylics on paper mixed with cotton.

And as soon as he started flying, he wore headphones. And as soon as she put on the headphones, she started flying. She had never understood what came from. (Air)

The work represents the great cathartic power of music. A robin rests on a thin string, personification of the sense of freedom we all feel as we get lost in the musical notes of our favorite song. For this reason, next to the bird, the artist painted a pair of red headphones. A recurring object in the painter's subjects, the hat that immediately makes us understand that we are within her dreamlike universe.

Handcrafted wooden frame included.

Milan, Italy

Aria Carelli is an artist who lives and works in Milan. Her artworks are like windows on a dreamlike world made by delicate and evanescent tones. The brush strokes with watercolors flow on the surface of the paper, drawing magical paths, while the acrylic and the ink help to define the recurrent figures, like the “The Fat Lady” and “The Man with the hat”. Figures that travel from the music and poetry world directly into the Aria's artworks. In fact, she is strongly influenced by the words in books and by the songs of the most famous italian songwriters. So it appens to see in her artworks poetic verses and words, that float in this poetic “somewhere else”.
