Angelo Licari was born in Regalbuto, in the province of Enna, on 10/04/1950.  Here he spent his childhood in contact with the most authentic nature of the Sicilian hinterland.  As an adolescent, he moved to Catania where he completed his middle school studies and, later, his artistic studies at the Art Institute of Catania and the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1976 he moved to the north, to the province of Varese, where he took up the profession of teaching in parallel with his artistic activity, which he carried out incessantly, participating in various painting exhibitions, both collective and personal. Here, due to the human and cultural experiences that marked his art, he moved on to the so-called 'metaphysical' period, during which he began to decompose images, superimposing scenes of people intent on their daily occupations in the villages of the Sicilian hinterland. In 1990, on his return to his beloved land, the experience he had acquired perfectly consolidated his artistic personality, but the research and investigation of the various aspects of reality continued to manifest itself in a progressive, further evolution of his art, which went from a social realism transfigured and sublimated by an expressionist technique, to a final landing place, close to the artists of the transavantgarde and neo-expressionism, a sort of "youthfulness" that uses traditional painting techniques to express a modern and even virtual world.

Angelo Licari was born in Regalbuto, in the province of Enna, on April 4th 1950.  Here he spends his childhood in contact with the most authentically true nature of the Sicilian hinterland.  In adolescence, he moved to Catania where he completed his middle studies and, later, the artistic ones at the Art Institute of Catania and the Academy of Fine Arts.
