  • About the work

Andrea Sangalli was born in Vaprio d'Adda (MI) in 1974. His professional training and specialisation in graphic design led him to develop an original and expressive stylistic figure. Characterised by an ironic vision of the world, Andrea's works have as their subjects situations or objects that are obvious metaphors of an existence that guarantees man an only apparent freedom. The irony is ensured by the estrangement given by the sequences of subjects - where the fish are famous - which, passed in a variable but repetitive reality, emerge only apparently alive, and instead prove incapable of rendering any movement, not even intellectual. The titles guide the viewer to understanding, the concept tries to maintain true freedom on the thin thread of sharing. Captivating and fascinating colours characterise his works with decisive and emphasised strokes, of immediate visual and communicative impact. Sangalli with care and accuracy gives the viewer an amused and disenchanted look at contemporaneity, without indulging in judgement. His technical background from the world of printing allows him to make copies of his own numbered prints in addition to his paintings. During his career he has exhibited in Monte Carlo, Lugano, Florence, Pavia, Bologna, Verona, Paris and Basel. He is proud of various collaborations in his field of work and admits to linking his subjects to those who approach art with kindness. He lives and works in Pozzo d'Adda (MI).
