Works by Vincent Lagrange

Vincent Lagrange, born in 1987, grew up in his father's photography studio in Antwerp, where he developed a lifelong passion fo portraiture and a love for the studio life. From a young age, Vincent was fascinated by the art of photography. His father, Marc Lagrange, taught him all the creative and technical skills necessary to turn his fascination into work.

When Vincent was still a child, his father gave him a gift that would become a lifelong source of inspiration and motivation for his artwork: a pet cat named Dwiezel. When Dwiezel fell ill and lost an eye, Vincent began to document the cat's life and learned the patience and skills needed to express an animal's nobility through photography. Vincent was inspired by his beloved Dwiezel's resilience and decided to dedicate his career to capturing the unique spirit of animals, by using the classic techniques of human portraiture. He aims to build trust, kindness, and openness with his subjects in order to capture their unique personalities and inner energy, which characterizes his work. Vincent has photographed a wide range of animals. Whether it's a beloved house pet, a rescue animal, or a protected species in the wild, Vincent believes that every animal is worthy of respect and seeks to give them a voice through the power of photography.

Vincent’s on-going series of portraits, such as Human Animals and Between Us, tries to uncover the individual characters and unique personalities of the animals. Vincent's work is also focused on giving the animals a voice through the power of the photographed image which will allow them to tell their own story. The projects are also created to raise awareness on animal causes, which can stimulate various side-projects and initiatives for charitable contributions for pet shelters and other worthy causes.

As a renowned portrait photographer, Vincent has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being featured on the cover of National Geographic Magazine in 2022. In addition, Vincent has published an international book about human dog portraits, in collaboration with publisher Teneues.
