Vera Portatadino was born in Varese in 1984. She studied Visual Arts at NABA Milan and she achieved a PgDip and an MA in Fine Arts at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, in London

In 2014 she founded Yellow, an independent research project focused on contemporary painting. She has won the Treviglio Prize in 2018 and has participated in several artist residencies in Italy and abroad, such as Viafarini, Milano; Simposio di Pittura at Fondazione Lac O Le Mon, Lecce; Atélier del Sud, Basilicata Art Residency;  Nella Casa Rossa, Dresden; Attraverso il Vero, Casa Morante, Abruzzo; and Landing at CARS Omegna. In 2018 she received a special mention by Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia, in the occasion of the Gallerie’s Residency Call. Vera has exhibited widely nationally and internationally. Her work explores the tangibility of painting in a Era heading towards virtual realities. Her themes address ecology, space colonization, and scientific manipulation by depicting earthly botanical details and relics in undefined landscapes. Most recently she developed her research by expanding the concept of detail in the history of art.
