Born in 1955 in Vincennes, Thierry Dehais trained as a boiler maker for three years.

At the age of 24, he manages a graphic arts company in the Val-de-Marne. But he devotes his free time to sculpture, influenced by Alberto Giacometti and Auguste-Jean Gaudin.

His works have several facets, different materials: on burned wood, steel, bronze ...

His sculptures on wood are pure, representing characters cut with a chainsaw and thrown into the fire, of a great simplicity and a great solemnity, representations of jazz musicians in bronze, long and in movement, as well as animals or human figures dictated by a work on the material which aims at saying the essential (the sculptor realizes himself his patinas, in order to obtain the rendering of the lights to which his experience of the graphic arts accustomed him), the abstract pieces of steel, are the witnesses of a creation to the "body to body" with this material and of its manipulations: various shapings, tears, foldings. ..
