  • About the Artist

Stéphane Erouane Dumas uses oil paint on paper or canvas to reveal his vision of nature and its immensity. In his cool-toned Nordic landscapes, the vanishing horizon gives way to tree lines, to visions of cliffs and the glittering waters of the rivers and lakes. Oscillating between the boundaries of figurative and abstract, his energy-filled works reflect the cosmic greatness of nature, between the real world and the world of dreams. In the “Wintertime” series, inspired by the artist’s travels in Norway, Scotland, and Iceland, we find winter scenes of dark and misty skies, broken by vertical birch trunks as well as snow-covered rocks and trees, painted in the wintercool colors of the north. Frozen, immobile and yet radiating life beneath its crust of ice and frost, the landscapes of this series of paintings reveal the artist’s talent and share with us his perception of the world’s harmony.
