Roberto Lagrasta, born in November 1948, has always lived in Parma. He has been involved in photography since the late 1970s, when he bought his first camera.

The Teatro Regio, where he worked at the time, is his first photography “gym”, strictly in black and white. The need to deepen the technique and culture of the image led him to promote the birth of the Photographic Club "Il Grandangolo" in 1982. There, with some friends, he began to deal with ancient photographic printing techniques; in particular, he studied and experimented with bichromate gum in which he found wide expressive and creative possibilities.

In 1991 he was one of the promoters, again in Parma, of “Rodolfo Namias Group” (GRN), a  group that is mainly dedicated to the rediscovery and dissemination of historical and alternative procedures.

In the last thirty years Roberto Lagrasta has exhibited in numerous solo shows in Italy and abroad and participated in almost all the collective exhibitions of the Namias Group; for almost twenty years he has been carrying out an intense dissemination and didactic activity in the photographic clubs, in cultural sssociations, in schools and in artistic institutes and academies as teacher of the Didactic Department of the FIAF.

In 2001 the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations awarded him with the AFI (Artist of Italian Photography) honor.
