Michèle Quence has always practiced painting. Very early in her childhood, she was exposed to this world, her father being a landscape painter who exhibited in galleries in Montmartre... Having lived in the countryside she has always felt connected to the plant world, the forest, the sea, and the elements of nature.
The desire to share her wonder questions her place in the world. In his work, she is inspired by the light and the territory in which she lives. Abstraction allows her to transcend a physical reality beyond appearances. She loves the Italian Renaissance painters that she discovered at the National Gallery in London early in her travels.
She appreciates the light and its purity. The paintings of Za Wo ki are a wonder to her, and she also likes the series of abstract paintings by Gerard Richter.
She lived for a number of years in Los Angeles where he worked in the film and entertainment industry doing abstract painting series, illustration, and design as well as an art direction mural project.
