  • About the Artist

With Michel Hosszù, it is a part of the history of the art of the XXth century which opens in front of us and more particularly Pop Art. After studying at the Estienne school, he leaves for the United States. During this American episode, where he hangs out at the FACTORY and rubs shoulders with the avant-garde of his time, he discovers screen printing and photography. On his return to France in 1966, in addition to a painful passage under the flags, compulsory conscription, in terms of artistic production, the company was not as progressive as on the other side of the Atlantic and no one expected it. Rather little concerned with his career, but supported by two great collectors, multiplying collaborations and group exhibitions under the influence of his many artist friends. We find in his Automacules and his Autogrimaces this paroxysmic dimension, gesticulation of the expression such an excess conjuring up our common destiny and tragic.
