  • About the Artist

Mélina Ghorafi is an interdisciplinary artist and writer based in Brussels.

A graduate of Villa Arson since 2019, her work focuses mainly on questions around the aesthetics of violence and its languages, and more particularly its relationship to women and sexualities. Through research, texts, songs and performances, she invents a language drawing its sources from crosses between queer sensibilities and the traditional aesthetics of misogyny: she made it her main project, MUSOGYNIE, a feminist museum. and fetishist of misogyny, of its imaginations and muses. Among the projects that constitute MUSOGYNIE, she is working among other things on the constitution of a glossary on rape called "Raptus" and on a memory palace for her museum where her body is the place of storage.

She is committed to the creation of "fakelores" by reappropriating the French oral tradition to rewrite traditional queerified songs. She is also working on creating an artificial dialect, and shaping her writings into editions.

Her work has been published in Censored Magazine, she performed at the Grands Voisins in Paris and did a Creations in Progress residency with the Ateliers Médicis. She participates in events and exhibitions organized by the Brussels collective Satellite SF on feminist and queer science fiction.
