Born in Desio, in the province of Milan in 1970, where he lives and works, in 1992 he graduated in painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and in 1995 he started his exhibition activity presenting his research in important personal and collective exhibitions. His research, rich in images and capable of capturing the gaze of audiences of all ages, has often been called for the making of short films, he has experimented with animation and has been able to bring a highly original language to children's books.

Massimo Caccia's research is expressed through a suspended and delicate narration that reveals a deep sensitivity towards man and his daily experience. To tell the weaknesses, desires, fears and hopes of mankind, Caccia then chooses the metaphor of the animal world, identifying a particular living being according to the theme and placing it in the pictorial space often together with an object that further emphasizes the peculiar condition lived.

The animals of Caccia, often painted in the instant of performing an action, find themselves in suspended, hovering situations that perfectly express the continuous tension of contemporary man; it is impossible to express a precise judgment, or to know "how it will end" this or that situation recounted by Caccia in his works, the viewer finds himself empathically sharing the emotion and thought expressed by the animals that stand out on each work. On several occasions, the objects that tell the scene are moved with respect to the field of vision, we can't grasp them in their entirety, and so it happens also with the animals protagonists: and this is another interesting ploy identified by the artist to emphasize and convey the impossibility to fully understand the situations of life, so complex and intricate, so unexpected and full of surprises, as the often astonished or restless eyes of his animals can suggest.

Among the main collective exhibitions in public spaces are XXxXX in 2013, curated by Daniele Decia in Milan, Studio D'Ars; Talk so Loud in 2011, at the Museo delle Industrie e del Lavoro, Saronno; Mondo Fluido in 2010, curated by Alberto Mattia Martini at Spazio Oberdan in Milan; and before that, POPinvaderz at Mondopop in Rome, Toysinxland at Luccacomics in Lucca and MTV Toys, in Milan. Among the main recent solo shows, in 2013 Pets a ZOO, Bologna, in 2012 Tilt curated by Igor Zanti, Pietrasanta; in 2008 Still in Milan, curated by Ivan Quaroni, in 2007 Happiness 2 in Kufstein (Austria) and in 2006 his presence at the BABELFestival Athens, curated by Ferruccio Giromini.
