Martinho Costa graduated with a degree in Visual Arts- Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universidade de Lisboa in 2002. One year later, he obtained his master’s degree in “Theory and Practice of Contemporary Plastic Arts “ from the UCM (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). In September, 2012, he was an artist in residence at CeRCCa (Centre de Recerca i Creació Casamarles, Barcelona), with the support of the Gulbenkian Foundation.

 

Among his most recent solo exhibitions, the most notable include: Terra de Sombra Queimada, Galería silvestre (Madrid, 2017); Art Santander, with Galería silvestre, at Palacio de Exposiciones,(Santander, 2017); Casal da Cega in Dub, Galeria Vera Cruz (Aveiro, 2016); Baixas Frequências, Galeria silvestre (Tarragona, 2016); Todos os Dias Saio por um Caminho Diferente, Galería silvestre (Madrid, 2015); Pedra, Project Room, Justmad 6 (Madrid, 2015); Unnecessary Repetition of Meaning, Galería silvestre (Tarragona, 2014); Les Statues Meurent Aussi, Galeria 111 (Lisbon, 2014); Thumbnails, Galeria WHO (Lisbon, 2012); A Primeira Pedra, Galeria Má Arte (Aveiro, 2012); O Diário de Robert Stern, Galeria 111 (Lisbon, 2011) or Ruína, Galeria 111 (Lisbon, 2008).
