Lorraine first stepped into her artistic life with a studio course at the University of Manitoba.  Aesthetics remained her career focus as co-owner of a modern design oriented import business including curating its contemporary print gallery.

She then completed her BFA in painting and printmaking at University of Victoria and established her art studio.

Lorraine hails from an Icelandic Canadian community in the Interlake Region of Manitoba.  From the shores of Lake Winnipeg to the shores of the Pacific Ocean, Lorraine now makes her home on Vancouver Island, Canada.

Lorraine Thorarinson Betts work is described as lyrical, poetic, music filled abstraction. Strong contrast in action and colour converse freely with the viewer as a record of a day in the line of art history.
