Laurie Skantzos is a mid-career artist and art educator whose pieces are inspired by the interaction of colour, shape, and process. Laurie brings innovation to her art practice, always exploring the use of different media and using her own language to communicate a refined aesthetic vision. The distinct aspects of Laurie’s practice are the pursuit of various media and styles and deliberately challenging her process to use and manipulate materials in novel ways. Her practice never stagnates, it is always evolving. Her ability to create high quality work in a range of styles demonstrates her creative versatility.
Laurie studied Fine Art at the University of Waterloo where she made the Dean’s Honours List. Over her career, she has consistently had annual exhibitions and has received numerous awards and recognition. Laurie has been an active member of the art community in Canada for almost 25 years and her work can be found in public and private collections in North America, Europe, and Asia.
