"The drawings of my engravings can sometimes be close to the universe of the tale, but without apparent contextual element, thus making the narration more free and complex.

On these drawings, I add accidents: stains, tears, which participate in a certain ambiguity oscillating between violence and softness.

(...) I am interested in the links that children have with each other and with adults, because innocence, modesty and exhibition, intimacy and seduction are mixed together...".

Born in 1991, Julia Haumont graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris with the Congratulations of the. jury in 2017. Trained in the studio of Jean-Michel Alberola and Claude Dumas, she develops her practice around painting, engraving and ceramics.

Having previously studied at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, textiles became one of her favorite mediums. It allows her more freedom: she dyes fabrics, cuts them, embroiders them, frays them... bringing them a transparency and a certain ambivalence.
