He was born in Santiago de Chile, the city where he has always lived.
He studies his basic and secondary education at the San Ignacio school.
After that, he entered the University of Chile and, in 1970, graduated with the title of journalist.
Later he worked for some time in print and graphic journalism.
In addition, he works three years as a theatre and television actor.

In 1973, he founded Filmocentro and other entrepreneurs from the world of communications, from where he works as an advertising photographer. In this photography speciality, Jaime works with the main advertising agencies and clients in Chile, obtaining notoriety among his peers for being the one who participates in the most important campaigns that in turn end up grabbing the most coveted awards in Chilean advertising.
Furthermore, in 1985 Jaime was a fundamental figure to form FOTOP, an association of Advertising Photographers of Chile, an organization that brings together the members of the Chilean photographic offer and of which he is its first president. FOTOP continues to operate to this day and is the main reference for advertising photographers in Chile.

In 1993 O'Ryan created Lobofilms, a company that produces commercials, which quickly rises to the top of the most awarded companies for its level of commercial productions for television and cinema. For the next 10 years, Jaime mainly takes over directing his own commercials, leaving photography in a waiting period, which he takes up completely 10 years later, in 2003.
Today he continues to work in advertising photography and as a director of photography in commercials.
