Kaneyasu’s works mainly engage the three elements of colour, shape, and tact related to the lacquerwork. Feeling the colour is a visual act of perceiving light, or an abstract action that evokes and recalls memory, and it is a tactile act of perceiving the intrinsic qualities of the material.
Focusing on the special texture of lacquer and on the act of the final sharpening and expressing colours by laminating colours, makes it possible not to grasp the colour as a decoration that merely forms the surface layer of a form but the colour itself. In other words, it is making a work that reminds those who watch a sense that is also called a tactile colour sense.
