Francesca Manetta's research is rooted in memory, in childhood stories.

She often draws on fairy tales and literature to arrive at a personal narrative in which real and dreamlike elements are intertwined. The creation of the mise en scène, which the artist personally takes care of in every aspect, is a fundamental part of her work, characterised by a "pictorial" use of photographic technique and images in which human figures, places and atmospheres, from time to time shadowy or evanescent, merge.

In addition to her training in the field of set design, her studies of classical and contemporary dance (she has been part of an acrobatic dance troupe) and her passion for the theatre have been fundamental throughout her career.

Francesca Manetta was born in 1979 in the province of Bergamo. She graduated from the Liceo Artistico and then graduated with honours in the scenography course at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera with Prof. Enrico Mulazzani, whose assistant she was during the 2006/2007 academic year. After her academic studies, she specialised at the Ecole Internationale Jacques Lecoq in Paris (LEM course).
He combines his scenographic activity with his artistic one, preferring photography and installation, often contaminating different genres.
His first solo exhibition was Incipit (2011) at Biffi Arte in Piacenza, where he presented both photographic and installation works. This was followed in 2012 by Playing Don Chisciotte at Numen Arti Contemporanee (Benevento), and then in 2013 by a solo exhibition in Milan at Nur Gallery dedicated to the photographic project Dancing With Myself (Arsprima catalogue and exhibition curated by Silvia Bottani). The video installation Dancing With Myself is included in the programming of Visualcontainer, the only distributor of video art in Italy, while an extract of the exhibition is presented at the MACS Museum in Romano di Lombardia.
Since 2009 he has participated in group exhibitions with various galleries. In Naples he took part in the travelling project Divieto di Affissione curated by the Numen Arti Contemporanee gallery, while in France he was a guest at the Galerie Depardieu in Nice for Carte Blanche Alocco and Vernissage III. He also took part in the video art exhibitions Interferenze (curated by Ivan D'Alberto and Visualcontainer) and Liaisons, curated by Cristina Gilda Artese and Alessandro Trabucco.
With Arsprima she presents a preview of the Firebird project for MIA Fair 2016, which confirms the artistic association between the artist and Gilda Arte Contemporanea. She also participates in competitions to promote emerging artists.
