  • About the Artist

Florence Leoni, born and currently living in Paris, began her career in 2011 by opening the eponymous gallery,on 151 rue Amelot in the 11th district of Paris.

In this place closer to the laboratory, than to the shopping mall meet artists of all kinds.

Young graduates of Beaux-arts (Lina Ben Rajeb, Jean-Baptiste Lenglet) confirmed artists (Lionel Sabatté, Loris Ceccini, Loic Raguénès, Simon Rouby...) Musicians of the underground scene (Chassol, Olaf Hund, Etienne Jaumet, Vava Dudu, Paul Armand Delille) and night owls hungry for art.

The place is as well known for its multidisciplinary exhibitions as for its wild nights.

Through this first experience, Florence Leoni begins to express herself first through a monthly newspaper (of which she is the editor-in-chief), in which she mixes interviews of the exhibited artists and articles with philosophical tendencies.

The collage comes to her first through the articulation of imaginary interview invented in 2011, where she makes two protagonists who could not have met (Marilyn Monroe & Claude Cahun, Stephen Hawking & Philippe k Dick or William Blake & Allen Ginsberg) communicate.

Today, her works are very often inspired by books, icons or music, thus allowing, through her handwritten manifestos, to perceive the subtexts of imaginary paradigms.

Florence Leoni is represented by Maison contemporain since June 2020.
