Dominique Joyeux was born in France, but he lived in many overseas countries. During his travels, he trained in workshops in the West Indies, in the South Pacific and in Corsica, before settling four years in the south of France. Nowadays, he is settled near Lyon.
He works mainly with dry pastel and oil, oil and acrylic painting, mixed techniques, watercolor. He constructs on the canvas imaginary worlds separated by a circle evoking cellular membranes. In this way, these living spaces seem to move sometimes as microorganisms confronted with stellar spaces, sometimes as continents. These microorganisms remind to us that we are dust of stars and that it is legitimate to finish with it our passage.
His research is about motion, vibration of colors and reliefs. The space that he traces can be opened or closed, evoking microbiology or the impulse toward universes in extension and acceleration (and therefore eternal), which brings us back to the infinitely great and the infinitely small.
