Bruno Donzelli's pictorial production is divided into pictorial cycles, for examples "Ormare" and "Siparietti impertinenti".
Initially inspired by the language of Pop and Cobra, Donzelli, already at the end of the sixties, turns to an expressionist painting. He later develops a personal stylistic code, which reaches total artistic maturity only in the last decades. Donzelli therefore weaves a close dialogue with the historical avant-gardes and with modern paintings, in his works you can see the footsteps of Picasso, Warhol, Fontana and Kandinsky.
In 1989 he created some works on ceramics, multiples and unique hand-painted pieces.
In 1991 he also tried his hand at scenography, with the creation of costumes and set-ups for the show "Crazy Nights in Petersburg", taken from Dostoevsky's "White Nights" at Teatro dell’Orologio in Rome.
Bruno Donzelli participated, from an early age, in various prizes including, in 1960, the San Fedele Prize in Milan and the Termoli Prize.
He was present, in 1962, at the Award announced by the Ministry of Education at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. This is also the year of the Donzelli painter's debut, sanctioned by the setting up of a solo exhibition held at the Fiorino gallery in Florence.
Already in 1963 a second exhibition of Donzelli's works took place in Genoa at the Centro Arte Gallery. And personal exhibitions entirely dedicated to the master, over the years, are set up in the most prestigious Italian and European cities, Venice, Rome, Paris and Barcelona.
The year 2000 is also an opportunity for the proposition of a vast anthological exhibition in Caserta, where the artist resides, an exhibition that sets itself the goal of retracing, with a critical eye, Donzelli's pictorial production.
In 2008, his overseas solo shows included him internationally among the greatest contemporary Italian painters: Miami, New York and Shanghai.
