For a number of years, I've been making Zen drawings with Indian ink. This exercise requires meditative preparation, where the unique gesture springs from a feeling.
This dynamic imaginary source led me to explore colors, first acrylics and then oils.
After the brush and the monochrome, I adopted the knife for vivid expressions where movement embraces the expressions of my thoughts.
In return for these tactile sensations, the composition of the figures takes shape, leaving the initial theme to escape into the imaginary.
My Dutch background brings a Nordic perspective to the culture of southern France, where I've lived for almost 40 years. This cultural cross-fertilization and the physical sensations specific to the blue of Marseilles have given rise to a fascination that delights me every day.
