The artistic research of the group Bonzanos is focused on the theme of the body, understood as an interactive and connective architecture between the individual and others, between the self and the universe.
The research on the human body is carried out through an artistic discipline that can be defined as "emotional physiognomy".
If the pseudoscientific discipline of physiognomy wanted to deduce psychological and moral characters from the physical appearance and facial expressions of a person, "emotional physiognomy" is, instead, the study of the signs produced by emotions on the human body, evidence of an inner spirituality.

The emotions experienced produce feelings and the latter the expressive signs, which trigger a process of transfiguration even of the physical forms imposed by genetics.
Revealing these signs, is the testimony of consciousness, the photographic restitution of "the human soul".

The body is therefore identified as a place of formation of consciousness as well as a participatory element of cognitive activity, through reactions triggered by sensory experiences and the resulting emotions and feelings that these develop; in short, all ideas, actions and every form of human culture and society, were produced under the motivational drive of emotions and feelings.

Through the body and its emotional mechanisms, the Bonzanos reflect on the mystery of existence, biological evolution and the collective consciousness of a post-human society, perhaps directed towards a transhuman evolution, where sustainable coexistence is the most urgent issue to be addressed for the survival on one planet of different societies and different forms of life.

In 2014 with his two children, Elisa and Davide, he forms the artistic group BONZANOS pseudonym of his most recent works.

Research

Object of the entire artistic research is the human body, interpreted as "interactive and connective architecture between the ego and the universe, container of questions and doubts, visible form and tangible matter of the invisible and intangible substances of man, emotions and consciousness".

The research on the human body is implemented through an artistic discipline that can be defined as "emotional physiognomy".

If the pseudoscientific discipline of physiognomy wanted to deduce the psychological and moral characters from the physical appearance of a person and from the expressions of his face, "emotional physiognomy" is, instead, the study of the signs produced by emotions on the human body, evidence of an inner spirituality.

Experienced emotions produce feelings and these are the expressive signs that trigger a process of transfiguration even of the physical forms imposed by genetics.

Revealing these signs, identifiable perhaps only through artistic intuition, is a testimony of the relationship between material life and consciousness, in synthesis the photographic restitution of the "human soul".

In his most recent works, two-dimensional watercolor paintings, Bonzanos expands his research based on recent discoveries in the field of neuroscience.

The biological body is therefore analyzed as a place of formation of consciousness as well as an organism participating in cognitive activity, through a process activated by sensory experiences and the resulting emotions and feelings.

Emotions and feelings are a product of the regulation of life that is based on the principle of homeostasis, i.e. the search for that condition of balance necessary for the reproduction of the species.

Through emotional experiences feelings are formed that activate cognitive processes in order to plan actions and strategies aimed at achieving well-being or overcoming a crisis situation, that is aimed at achieving homeostasis.

Neuroscientist Antonio Damasio argues that all ideas, actions and ultimately every form of human culture and society have been produced under the motivational drive of emotions and feelings.

Bonzanos identify and study through artistic imagery the pathways of sensory perceptions that produce the emotions that later become those feelings capable of producing physical and mental changes.

In short, feelings are the sedimented experience of emotions capable of creating a sort of map or sifting network that allows the human intellect to quickly filter external information, without having to encode it one by one, to submit it to the analysis of the rational process operated by the intellect.

The Bonzanos conclude their research with a thesis whose demonstration, suspended between art and science, is expressed by the words of Stefano Bonzano.

"If elementary forms of life, through sensory experiences, have ended up evolving into more complex organisms equipped with a nervous system;

if through the body and nervous system those emotions and feelings capable of producing the consciousness of the individual were formed;

if emotions and feelings have the purpose of providing information and motivations for the rapid elaboration of ideas and strategies necessary to survive the challenges for adaptation to the environment that natural selection imposes;

if through the motivational drive of emotions and feelings the knowledge and intellectual evolution of humankind has developed;

then we can also assert that there is an invisible guiding force of the evolution of life, an emotional will or a fundamental force produced by the biological body, which operates through sensory experiences, emotions and feelings.

This force or emotional foundation is able to generate brain mutations and perhaps even genetic mutations of a natural kind.

Certainly it is also capable of producing the scientific knowledge capable of operating synthetic genetic evolutionary transformations and directing the evolution of life outside of Darwinian evolutionary processes."

Through these reflections, the implications that this entails in terms of individual consciousness and social consciousness as well as on the possible past, present and future evolutionary paths of the human species emerge.

The body is therefore the object of investigation, on the one hand to reason about the mystery of one's own existence, on the other hand to understand the conscious and "unconscious" changes of a society, certainly post-human, perhaps directed towards a transhuman evolution, where sustainable coexistence is the most urgent issue to be addressed in order to
