  • About the Artist

Benjamin SPaRK is a Franco-Belgian artist born in 1969, who lives and works in Brussels. As a painter and sculptor, SPaRK creates spooky characters from comics, cartoons, advertising and ancestral symbols of humanity. He appears to be a powerhouse of “street pop" Brussels, a movement which claims the synthesis of American pop culture and the European street art.

At 28, he studied drawing at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and then went to the United States to improve himself before settling in Belgium, to devote himself entirely to his art. He is very influenced by his love for Jean-Michel Basquiat's paintings. He developed his own techniques and a very special skill, with highly finished compositions. SPaRK feeds the world around him to recreate his own universe, full of humor and color. Through paint he expresses his feelings and his works have evolved over time. Since 2007, Spark has exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Düsseldorf, New York, Marrakesh and more. He is a major artist on the French scene of urban neo-pop art.
