  • About the Artist
Born in Tokyo to a Korean father and Japanese mother, Tsuyu first studied dance and music at the Centre de danse international Rosella Hightower in Cannes, France. Soon after, her interests led her to the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’art dramatique de Paris, where she expanded into the fields of drama and theater. In her career as a visual artist, Tsuyu engages the viewer, seducing them with the meditative quality of her work: objects that seem to float as much as hang. Tsuyu leads the viewer to discover the mise en scène inherent in her pieces, each infused with emotion. Whether representing creatures of the air (the butterfly), the sea (the jellyfish), or the spiritual realm (the iconic Japanese Daruma), Tsuyu’s message rings through: it is the lightness of our being which both liberates and enslaves us—the weight of our wings that enables us to soar or suddenly crashes us to the earth. She lives and works in Paris.
