  • About the Artist
Miguel Ángel Barba was born in Ciudad Real in 1976. Although Miguel Ángel Barba studied Fine Art at the University of Cuenca, he is not part of the university’s intellectual and refined group of artists. As a young man, Miguel Ángel took part in fights and drinking bouts and even had an encounter with the police, just like Bonifacio years before him. He kept the gypsies company outside the steps of the cathedral. His work is very varied and draws on both the figuration of his initial years as an artist and his previous more abstract phase. Colour and light are the two fundamental elements in his development. He mixes wisdom, brutal strength and refinement all together. This is possibly one of our most surprising artists in our gallery.
