  • About the Artist

As a painter and a designer, his inspiration is everywhere. Inspirations from his youth have created a moral compass driving his passion. His art influences could be seen as Dali, Matisse, Bacon, Dubuffet, Magritte, Kandinsky, Basquiat, Warhol and Picasso. Through these comparisons his style is depicted as a transitional commentary from modernism to contemporary art from the late 20th century. Ruffet’s influences derived from a minimalist style in which language is the visual median. This expressional style is long seen in an urban context of contemporary abstract works and is pivotal in Ruffet’s entire collection of works. Through media he believes that the large screens in everyday life, projecting ideals and morality are the latter side of the canvas, which explains his attraction to large-scale works. The language used in his works compliments the everyday factions seen in today’s media driven culture.
