Painter and engraver born in San Sebastián in 1964. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Bilbao. He obtained several scholarships, such as that of the Diputación de Guipúzcoa in 1987 and 1988, or that of the Fundation Marcelino Botín in 1999. In 1988 he exhibited for the first time individually at the Museo Bonnat of Bayona and later, in 1989, at the Galería Eladio Fernández.
In 1988, he was awarded the first prize for painting and the second drawing prize for the Certamen de Artes Plásticas of Euskadi. In 1989 he won the first prize of the Certamen de Artistas Noveles of Guipúzcoa. His works have been exhibited in the most important galleries in the Basque Country, such as Galería 16 in San Sebastián or the Galería Windsor in Bilbao. Amondarain has also participated in the most important art fairs, such as the one in Berlin or ARCO in Madrid.
