  • About the Artist

Anna Borghi was born in Busto Arsizio on 29th of May 1980. Now she lives and works in Milan in Olgiate Olona (VA). She graduated from Accademia di Brera in Milan in 2005.

Black colour is spread with the spatula in strong definite strokes (like a scream). Fading at the edges suggesting an interior softness. With a closer look architectural forms appear. A roof can be seen, two or three strokes of white form a colonnade, an idea of perspective, an arch. The eye is always attracted to this dark and deep abyss and everything else around it appears later.

In contrast with the black there is white. Rough and textured sometimes dirtied with ochre and grey. It could be a wall, the sky or snowy ground, it dosen’t matter this is not the message of Anna Borghi’s work.

The city can just be seen and the figurative interpretation stops here. Her cities are dreamlike, rielaborated from memory. One cannot fail to notice how the artist’s use of texture and stroke takes us in the direction of the current artistic panorama: the rediscovery of a different expression from the figurative one, an expression which is warm, emotional, passionate, authentic and poetic.
