Alex Msibi was born in Newcastle Madadeni Section 5 Kwa-Zulu Natal on the 4th of July 1993, raised by his mother who is a single parent and his two siblings. He has been interested in Art at a younger age and a dreamer of becoming a professional Fine Artist one day under the mentorship of Gerna Van Heyningen from Free State in Vrede for over 7 years.
In 2008 he participated in Grassland Meander Competition in Free State where he won the first position of being a great painter and second position in sculpturing. The next year 2009 he was apprenticed to Anton Smit Sculpture Park in Bronkhorstspruit to learn more about being a sculptor for a month.
He matriculated in 2012 with a bachelor certificate and in 2013 he enrolled at Tshwane University Of Technology in Pretoria to study Fine and Applied Arts, while a Fine Art student he participated in group exhibitions with his fellow art students that were held at Art Lovers 1932 Gallery in Pretoria. He completed his National Diploma in 2015 and Graduated on the 10th of May 2016 at Pretoria Campus.
Late 2016 he won at Thami Mnyele Fine Art Awards for Painting Merit Award and Lizamore & Associates Mentorship Programme, and hosted his first Solo Project in 2017 that was titled NKULULEKO- FREEDOM. He further participated in different business seminars at Lizamore & Associates Gallery and Bag Factory studios to learn more about the business side of Art. With no means to end there he further continued entering competitions, participated in exhibitions to keep growing stronger and being professional.
